Those who say “it’s not personal, it’s just business” are lying. All business is personal, and the best business is very personal.

We are a creative bakery.

That means we bring a crafted and inspired approach to every project we work on. Which is why our clients love us and why they keep coming back. Since 2014, we have existed solely via word of mouth, if that is not a testament to the amount of pride we take in dishing out amazing creations for you, we don’t know what is.

We support a female empowered workplace.

Our bakery has been offering employment to women (especially working mothers and single mothers) and LGBTQIA + people since we first started. We are a largely female led and operated company. Since 2018, we’ve been supporting  Kiva , which give aids to women of third-world nations to start their own businesses so they can be self-sufficient in their own countries. We believe the first step to gender equality is financial equality.

Nicole Pal

Our Creative Director

Hi there! I’m Nicole, the creative director of this awesome bakery you came across on this interweb. Well, a little background about me. I’m from sunny Singapore, grew up in an extended family made up of predominately boys so for a large part of my childhood, I had to learn to play on my own with my grandmother by my side.

As a child, I would come home from school every afternoon to a freshly baked treat. This daily baking ritual and special time together in the kitchen with my nan and mom left a lasting impression. I have always been a creative, shy kid growing up in an Asian household and had always wanted to pursue something artistic. However, after securing a fully paid scholarship in design at La Salle School of Designs, I was sent to Sydney to pursue a more “acceptable” career which ended up to be pharmacy. I ticked that off my parents’ to-do list and baked only when the occasions called for it. It wasn’t until I became a mother to 3 beautiful girls, did I realised how much I still love creating art.. but this time in the form of food.

In 2014, I started Sugar Pop Bakery as a side hobby to distract myself when my children were away visiting during our family separation. Between juggling single motherhood, full-time dispensary work and carving out a niche for myself in the hospitality world from scratch, I had to figure out how to create websites, photography, videos and social media promotion on my own with zero start-up cost using the power of the internet.

To date, our customer base has increased widely from small party gatherings to large corporate events. This is my full-time career now and I still cannot believe how lucky I am to be able to do where my passion really lies.

Life does indeed come full circle and we just have to be patient enough to see it through. I hope my little story inspires you to find your path too.. May you enjoy our sweet treats as much as my team and I love creating them for you!
